Daily Update

Still working on Blue Ridge Yarns Cotton Candy in pattern Laurel Anne which sadly doesn’t appear on their website. Got both the yarn and pattern at Maryland Sheep and Wool, along with 2 tons of other stuff.

About half way along on the back and love the way the colors are showing up. Easy brainless knitting, easily memorized pattern. I can work on this and pay rapt attention to Pop’s dumb sci-fi movies.

Pulled pork in home-made barbecue sauce makes for great sandwiches, but if you don’t have any good rolls around, and do have wraps, uh, it works.

Word to the wise

Do not send a husband to the Acme because they have Turkey Hill ice cream on a really good sale. He came home with 14 containers. After we got past, “Where the hell did you put it all?” and into “Why did you buy so much especially when it isn’t all my favorite Graham Slam flavor?” his response was, “Because it was on sale.”   Uh, I guess I taught him that.

WWKIP Day – It’s coming

I celebrate every year!!!

I’m in the middle of a vest, and will stick with that until I’m finished, but next up is an odd choice of colors for me. I never wear yellows, oranges. NEVER! That’s not to say I don’t like the look of them – I just don’t think they look good on me. But when I saw this, I had to have it!

Hand-dyed, 100% Superwash Falkland Wool, sport weight. Approximately 250 grams, 740 yards. Got it on Etsy from Hearthside Fibers, in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin. Feels beautiful and the colors are prettier than a camera can show.

See what I mean? I HAD TO BUY IT!!!

And in the package, which arrived very quickly, was a sample of their Stardust yarn, a sport weight with a wee bit of sparkle, named Stardust!

That’s all I need to get me back to that shop!!!

Visit to friends

We have some friends that we don’t see nearly enough – and they live only about 2 hours away. So why has it taken this long?

Stopped at AJ’s on the Creek on Chincoteague Island, Va for lunch and a few beers. Well, quite a few! Lunch was great, beer was cold, seeing friends was the best part and we met a few new ones, too. I’m explaining “depth of field” to their daughter!

We got to see the Chincoteague ponies, too.

The annual pony swim and sale isn’t until late July and I won’t fight the crowds that the sale will draw to see it. Better to see them grazing and peaceful. (We all remember all those “Misty” books we read as kids. Well, this is the place! Well, no, actually they live one island further east, on Assateague and swim from there over to Chincoteague, but….)

And we went out to the Assateague National Wildlife Refuge, and to the beach out there. And I didn’t want to leave. Ever.

This is a spot I’ll definitely want to see again!

He keeps taking pictures of me taking pictures.

A lot of marshland out here, before you get to beautiful beaches. Fortunately, although it was warm. it wasn’t humid and a good breeze kept the bugs down. It was a wonderful afternoon.

And we drove by Wallops Island, too!

We’ll get down there again, and I’d like to get out to Tangier Island, too.
