this says it all.

Too much to do, not enough time, not enough money.

Saturday post

It’s Saturday and I have to work a shift – not an extra one, though.  I took a day off mid-week to spend way too much time at the dentist’s office. Working today evens things out and I don’t have to use vacation time. Handy that.

Digging through the picture files on my camera chip and came across this. I have a poodle who has a very good life – better than mine actually, except for that “public pooping out in the cold” part. The biggest responsibility she has is deciding whether she’ll sleep on the couch or on the waterbed, and this is usually determined by the indoor temperature. If it’s warm in the house, she opts for the couch; if it’s colder, she goes in on the heated waterbed. This was taken on a warm day. I took 6 shots with the flash before the damn dog woke up. I feel so much more secure knowing this dog is in the house when I’m here alone. Flat on her back with her legs sprawled wide and comfortable.

A dog’s life?? We should all have it so good.

Took a picture this week, sitting inside my vehicle, waiting for the defrosters to heat up and start working to clear the glass of the SNOW that had fallen during the day while I was at work. Now we don’t get a lot of snow here – some areas get SOOOOO much more. That’s fine with me. It’s not that I dislike snow so intensely – it’s that I dislike having to drive or travel in it on roads where idiots are also allowed to drive. Apparently here, for each snowflake that falls, so also does the IQ of each driver, on a one-to-one ratio.

I would love snow if I was retired, independently wealthy, living in a warm house, fully stocked with heating fuel, a month’s worth of food to eat and goodies to snack on, a generator in case of power issues and lots of yarn. A bonus to this would be if the house was high up on a hill where the view was lovely and NO ONE could get up there until spring! I’m thinking of that state park up in central PA, where the Susquehanna splits. You know the one? Big high bluff, sheer drop-off down to the water – you can see the river coming up, and the 2 branches going their separate ways. Up there would be nice. Just me.

Until all that applies, I dislike snow with a fierce passion. Getting snowed in at work once for three and a half days didn’t help this, either. And always having jobs that REQUIRED attendence regardless of the road conditions. And that time I bottomed out in my car on the way home from work and was stuck for 7 hours on the Hazletville Rd wasn’t one of my happiest times either, especially knowing all the while that my (ex-) husband was home warm by the fire with a Toyota 4-Runner in the driveway. Never mind.

Here’s the windshield iced over, while I wait.

Took yarn off the niddy noddy and gave it a wash and a thwack. It’s superwash merino in colorway Ocean Breeze, 2-ply. Husband usually comes home when I’m in the middle of these chores, and ALWAYS makes some crack about, “Is that dinner?”  Every time, over and over. Each time, he thinks it’s roaringly funny. Each time, he laughs and laughs. All to himself. Each time, I stifle the urge to put him out of his/my misery.

This is a skein’s worth of yarn in a bowl. Placing it in a bowl does not make it edible. Never will.

Placing it in hot, soapy water does not make it soup.

Holiday cheer?

It better come in a bottle.

Got stuck working a 12 hr shift yesterday – had a call-out and nobody to fill it, so the shift got filled by me and one other splitting it. UGH!  At least I had my knitting bag with me, and worked on those cabled mitts.  Working out well, but I started with a bad needle (BAD needle!!!  Go to your room!) it’s long enough to be a coil-y aggravating mess from being stored in it’s package, not long enough to do Magic Loop easily and well, and the cable is rather heavy. Doing a pattern that’s only 40 inches around, I would have been better off using 2 circs or DPNs.  I’ll remember to carry everything I own to work with me every day, just in case I get stuck there.

Oddly, I had talked Pop into going with me last night to do some small amount of Christmas shopping – and this is VERY unusual cause he hates going to any stores, unless they sell power tools (men toys) or liquor, but he had agreed to go as long as we didn’t go to any yarn shops and I was looking forward to the evening out together.  All went down the crapper.

Kids, what little you were getting just diminished some.
