Just too hot, too tired and not in the mood.

Root for the home team!

Phillies do it again – come from behind and WIN the second game.  One more win and we go to the Series again.

But soon baseball will be over for the season, and I’m really going to miss it. Through the few slow parts of the game this evening, I finished knitting the handles of the tote bag I’ve been working on.  Probably made the bag too deep, as I was running short of wool, and the handles are shorter than I’d like.  Kitchenered one handle, still have one to go. Should have it ready to felt by tomorrow after work.

And on Sunday, I’ve got a road trip.  My friend went to eBay, bid on and won an antique weaving loom. A large 4-harness, 4-treadle, 48″ wide loom.  Got it for a beautiful price. On condition that it had to be picked up at it’s current location, and can’t be shipped.  OK, she drives a Prius!!  So I’ll be driving to central Jersey on Sunday morning to get this unassembled puzzle!  I would be jealous if I had a place to put a loom that size, but I’d have to toss the furniture out to bring in something this big!!

Pictures of it will follow!

Yes, I do love Autumn

Where I live, it’s always HUMID for at least 7 months a year!!  We run air-conditioning for months at a time, never turning it off.  Even if the temperature drops to a bearable level, the A/C stays on to keep the humidity out of the house. If you don’t, when you sit on the furniture, you wonder who pee’d on the couch.  Or spilled their beer. I hate sticky-hot humidity.

Now, finally, it’s easing. A bit chilly in the mornings, beautiful, comfortable, low-humidity days with sunshine. I could live happily  just following Autumn from Hemisphere to Hemisphere.  Would that work?  Is there someplace with a moderate climate and low humidity all year long?

So today we had to make an hour’s drive north and on the way up, I saw something I wanted to investigate. I’ve been to Willey Farms before, and glance at the goodies every time I drive by and I often stop in, but this time of year, they really outdo themselves.

yellows and golds

I think the mums are so beautiful so that our minds can deal with the coming winter?

And they come in so many gorgeous colors.

And lots of big, fat pumpkins, ready to carve into jack-o-lanterns!

And Willey Farms is such a nice place to wander around on a sunny day.

Uh, weird looking gourds??

And I would rather have these growing in my back yard than weeds.

Another thing that I like about the cooler weather in Autumn is that I get the urge to cook, to bake, to prepare bigger meals that require more time in the kitchen.  I’ve always seen the oven and the air conditioner as formidable enemies each fighting the other.  We ate home-made bread again with dinner, a nice Italian loaf. In the Fresh Produce area at Willey’s today, I bought apples and tomatoes and those green peppers got filled and baked. Went well with the bread.
