Quick work here

Other things going on, family issues, and so my picture taking becomes limited.  The fact that it gets dark shortly after I get home from work isn’t helping things, either.  I sure hate the shorter days.

So in desperation, I wandered out to the kitchen just as Pop is finishing some “Boxed Wonder.”  Some sort of no-cook dessert with the flavors of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.  Hell, they even provide a cardboard “dish” in the box!

Looks like puree of shit, doesn’t it.  Oddly, it tasted like chocolate and peanut butter, so all’s well.

And did you see my wool combs? Vicious weapons, huh?

And to give them some scale, a coffee mug.

Tomorrow may be a better day??

Mondays only come once a week

and for that, I am most grateful.

I’m knitting on a pair of fingerless mitts.

Easy to do, quick.  Have lots of  Classic Wool to keep me busy!

Good road trip

Left the house at 8:30 this morning, picked up a friend and headed north.  She had gone to eBay, bid on and won a large weaving loom – large like 4 ft wide, 4 ft deep, probably 5 ft tall.  She drives a small car and I offered to take her up to Mercer County, NJ and pick it up – we had a great time. No problem getting there. The loom was disassembled, so it all fit in the back of my car, but took quite a few trips with several people loading.  There are a hell of a lot of parts to this thing.

The lady who was selling it was so very nice, and we all went to a nearby shop and had coffee together. Must have spent an hour or more there with her.

Then, as we were only about 20 miles away, and it was practically on the way home, we went to Woolbearers in Mount Holly, NJ.  Just because neither of us had ever been there before, and that’s damn sure sufficient reason to justify the trip for us, anyway.

Lovely, well-stocked store that is just too far from here to really take advantage of all they offer.  In the back are several looms the size of what my friend bought – THAT THEY USE FOR CLASSES. Oh, to be able to take those classes.  Small rigid-heddle looms also available, and wheels, spindles, tools. The selection of needles included both HiyaHiya AND Addi’s.  (Must admit that the Hiya’s are at a lower price point, but I do think the Addi’s are a bit better) Selection of spinning fiber was slim – perhaps they’re due to get a large order in? Selection of yarn was excellent.  A wall of Cascade 220, and I love it. I like it’s price range and like the weight of it.  I’m tending more and  more to stay away from the finer yarns – it’s just too hard on my eyes.  I love color!   Love the monochromatic schemes, and also love to play opposites against each other.  Love to take two of these and hold them up against some of those and see how it brings the colors out.

I love Royal Blue

I love Multi-colors

I love Blues and Reds and any shade thereof near each other

This one is in colorway “Philadelphia.”

KAUNI – with long, long color repeats. A beautiful shawl??

Was an easy drive today – both places where we stopped were within a few miles/minutes of the New Jersey Turnpike and with the GPS, it was easy to get right back on and head south.

Late lunch with a good friend would have been enough to make for a good day, but with all this, too, it was a winner.
