A quick visit in Gettysburg, PA last week.

It’s a fitting picture this month, when we here in the United States will soon pay our respects on Veteran’s Day, November 11.

Ten on Tuesday

Not sure how well I’ll do with this, but it might help me get through the month of November.

Ten Chores I Should Be Doing

  1. Cleaning Bathroom A.
  2. Cleaning Bathroom B.
  3. Combing Dorset wool into nests to be spun.
  4. Sewing the buttons onto the red sweater I knitted so I can wear the damn thing. A good idea would be to do it before I lose the buttons.
  5. Finish changing out winter clothes for summer clothes, get the storage bins back out in the shed, out of the house.
  6. Reduce clutter in the living room. Put stuff away!!  Or throw it out.
  7. Cleaning the top of the stove.
  8. Finishing up and felting the red totebag I made.
  9. Pick out a sport-weight 100% wool sock yarn to use to try out that new scarf pattern.
  10. Figure out what I’m going to cook for dinner tomorrow.

Weaving and Spinning and Knitting, Oh, my!

Last weekend, on my way to a family event, I detoured a bit out of the way to go to The Mannings Hand Weaving School and Supply Center in East Berlin, PA.

When I was a kid, and prayers were still said in school (and echoed at home), I remember the verse, “And lead us not into temptation.”  I thought Mom said it meant malls and stores.  It really meant The Mannings.

It was a quiet day when we were there; no classes were being held so I got to wander about the classrooms.

And this side.

And weaving supplies —

And I just wanted to bring it ALL home.

And yarn to knit with, and patterns, and books and periodicals and DVDs.

And I want to move closer to this place!
