I suspect trouble

Knitting on Summer Flies, and I want it longer so I add another repeat of one of the very pretty patterns. It takes about 14 rows and at this point, near the end, these rows are about 200 stitches per row.  Takes over 10 min to do a knit row, longer to purl back. It’s working up so nice, though!

Then the pattern goes to the ruffle, the last part at the bottom. Tells you to kfb (knit into the front and back) of every stitch. This will double the stitch count, bringing it up near 400. This will also considerably increase the amount of yarn needed to complete each row. And there’s 8-10 rows of knitting, then a beautiful picot bind-off.

I smell trouble.

Coffee in the morning

Here’s the new coffeepot, ever continuing on with my red/black fetish. Anyone who’s seen my wardrobe, my yarn stash, my laptop, my car, my collection of purses, knows that I do a lot with red, and usually accent it with black.  So of course, this is the one we now have —

Coffee Pot

“Himself” is unconcerned about the color, but damn pleased with the fact that it brewed 12 cups of coffee in less than 9 minutes – the old one was taking upwards of 20 minutes before it ended it’s cycle. The coffee was good this morning – that’s all I cared about.

Busy day, Thursday

We were both off – for husband, his first after 15 days of working. They had a “staffing shake-up” at work, and the end result is that the few are working many extra hours to cover the office 24/7. Luckily, he was the one chosen to work day shifts, at least 6 a week, until replacements are selected and trained.

We had a shopping list and got everything on it. We also got a lot more! We got a new coffee pot. Ours has been taking FOREVER to make a pot of coffee. Paul said that probably one of the heating elements died. We’ve had it for years; it is used every day, sometimes for more than one full pot a day. We got our money’s worth out of the old one but it was time for a replacement. He found several shirts for work. He got a pair of shoes.

So did I!

BlackShoes

He wanted a stool for in the kitchen and I found him a HUGE coffee mug, holding about 34 ounces. He loves coffee, loves his own homemade coffee rather than what he can get at work and this will keep him happily drinking coffee for a good long while!

We also did the grocery shopping, getting many things for the freezer, many meals that’ll be easy/quick to prepare when we get home from work. Stocked up on a good bit of “basics” so we’re good for a while, except for perishables, milk. And that wee bag of chocolate that we won’t mention.

I’ve also done some plying – I have a jumbo bobbin set-up for my Ashford wheel allowing me to 3-ply long strands without having to break it. But, oh my, that’s a lot of treadling! Gotta be good for the legs, though.

Skeining it will kill my arm, though!!

Also got outside to take some pictures of the autumn colors. I surely do love this time of year. Think I’ll just post some pictures that I took today.

Soon, it’ll be too damn cold out to enjoy, but today, it was beautiful out there.

And I lost 2 pounds. And she hasn’t had that baby yet.
