Veterans Day

Here in the US, today is Veterans Day.

I’ve known a lot of Veterans, being connected in many ways with the military community for so many years. I am of the “VietNam generation” and lost many friends. I’m aware of the scars brought back from that time; not all are visible on casual glance. Many are well hidden still. I guess that’s been so after every conflict.

Veterans Day has several meanings for me. Gratitude for all those who have served; the birth of a granddaughter; a phone call and a voice that I knew instantly and can’t forget.

Not all scars are visible.

The day after

After staying at the house last night with the twins while the new dad stayed at the hospital with Mom and baby, today I got to see him! Took the twins to school and grabbed breakfast on the run – gotta love WaWa. He is beautiful, of course, or should I say Handsome! Definitely he is heathy and perfect! Got to meet all the doctors, the OB that delivered, the pediatrician taking care of him while he’s in the hospital – good team that worked well together, and took good care of my daughter and the new baby.

Back to the house in time to get the boys from their school bus, get them fed. Think the new dad is going back to the hospital this evening while I spend another evening with the “older brothers.”

Looks like Daughter is coming home tomorrow morning, and I’ll have to leave in the afternoon to head back home. All the visits are way too short.

Happy Birthday
