It’s only Monday??

Still catching up on chores, laundry, sleep!

Got a picture from Kate today, off her Flickr page.

The picture was taken Friday morning, 11.11.11, shortly after Joshua came home from the hospital. I was trying to keep A back a bit as he’s got a cold. No one wants the little guy to catch it, but A was so anxious to see his new baby brother, even to just touch him.

And I just heard that Atlantic Book Warehouses are all closing, probably just after Christmas. I’ve been in there so much, spent so much on their great books always discounted, bought for me and Paul, for the kids, the grandchildren. As our Waldenbooks in the mall closed several months ago, we’ll have to go quite a distance to browse through an actual “bricks and mortar” book store. Oh, I admit, I’ve shopped on Amazon many many many times, because the prices were better, and by buying several items at once, I avoided paying any shipping costs. I admit that I’m part of the cause. The local book stores can’t compete. But damn, I’m sorry to see them go. While realizing that the e-books are the way of the future and ecologically better, still nothing can take the place of a book in your hand.

Paul and I went there tonight – he came out with an armload of Clive Cussler books, I picked out kiddie books (we have some small but excellent readers in the family), a Lisa See novel, one by Nora Roberts, and yet another cook book. What are we going to do without that place?

And the knitting continues, at a slow pace.

After the bookstore, we went out to eat and that left little time for knitting, and made me sleepy from being so full.

BORING

Nothing exciting to say, nothing exciting happened today, nothing noteworthy. Had a few outright ridiculous amusing things that happened at work today, but confidentiality prevents you from laughing at them, although I almost wet myself – an easy thing to happen at my age.

And now I need to go to bed.

Home again

Spent 3 days down at my daughter’s house mostly taking care of her twins, whilst she was “busy elsewhere.”

While the twins, newly promoted to “older brothers” were at school on Wednesday and Thursday, I was at the hospital with Kate and Joshua Raymond, born 09 Nov at 522p; he was 8 lb, 8 oz. Wonderfully healthy, a full head of hair, but he was a bit reluctant to leave the comfort of his previous quarters. Daughter had a long day. She is tired but thrilled with the handsome fellow. Both conditions will endure!

And while I sat and waited, or watched the boys, I worked on the “Summer Wind” cowl pattern. Works up nicely, the Cherry Tree Hill yarn is always wonderful to work with, and I’m loving the new pointy-tipped needles.

About 250 stitches on the smaller size per round, simple pattern, easy to work.

This is one I may do again and again.

And today was a beautiful day to drive back. Most of the entire way north and east was like a Fall Foliage Tour and the views, colors were amazing. Caught that golden afternoon light as I was coming up 301 on the Peninsula and it made it all prettier. Not too long before all those trees are just bare sticks. But today, it was glorious.
