Score!!

On Facebook, there’s a Daily Deal for yarn from Craftsy. I bit, as I usually do BUT this one was Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, one I’m very familiar with, have used before, and have always been enormously satisfied with.  Just lovely base and the colors/dyeing is always top-notch.

And with the new needles, I immediately put another shawl onto the needles.

Didn’t even stop to get out the swift and wind a yarn “cake.” Just tossed the skein over my knee and wound it by hand, as Mom taught me about 55 years ago! This yarn is WAY expensive, compared to what I paid for a sweater’s worth some years ago. Since it’s gotten well known, the price has gone up and up. Recognizing that the price of just about everything has gone up over the years, but this has become cost prohibitive, at least at my house, to use for projects larger than hats, scarves, shawls. I’ll never be able to make another sweater out of it without taking out a second  mortgage. It’s now running $20-26USD per skein. (For a sweater, I’d need what? 8-9 skeins?) Still, it feels wonderful, soft, one of the best I’ve ever used.

Maybe I can score more on eBay???

Following instructions

When I pick up the phone and hear recorded instructions that tell me, “Your call is important to us. Please hold on until one of our representatives can assist you,” well, I don’t. I just hang right up…

If they don’t have the courtesy to be on the line when I answer, I don’t have the courtesy to wait on the line for the joy of hanging up in their ear when they start their sales pitch.

Tuesday – only that far?

Knitting coming along slowly – just starting into the border on the other side of Summer Wind. And I must note that the “slow going” is my doings – that is not a reflection on the pattern, with is clearly written with no errors that I’ve seen.  Came home to laundry chores, dinner, a need to eat chocolate. Just doesn’t leave as much time as I’d like for knitting.

Am thinking about taking a ride up to Stitches with Style – they carry the KnitPicks needles, I just got a set of the Harmony Options, and want to see if they have more/longer cables and the tip storage holder thingie. I don’t need the set of nickel-plated tips, as I have Addis galore here already and I have all the smaller sized KP needles in all lengths here now.

Not very interesting so I started looking through old pictures – and found some I liked that were taken about 3 years ago that just appeal to me today.

I don’t know where it was taken, and I should be ashamed of that – I should keep better records! But I love the fall foliage, always have a camera. It could have been anywhere – up in the Poconos, Killens Pond, Bombay Hook, in the backyard???

Maybe it was Killens Pond!

And my new Kindle Fire is going to be shipped soon – the release date is tomorrow and I did have it pre-ordered. No way of knowing how far down the list I am! Should be an interesting toy to play with. I really wasn’t going to get one, until I found out that I could import .pdf files into it, and then highlight parts of them, make notes on the file, etc. As most of the knitting patterns I use are available in .pdf, this will be so handy. And I do like the Kindle Reader App that I already have on lappie and on the phone.

Should be an interesting week coming up.
