Seeing new sights

I had to attend a work-related seminar yesterday that was held at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. There are conference rooms on the 4th floor of the hotel and right outside was a breathtaking view of the track.

Wish I had better cameras with me, instead of just the one on my cell phone.  I’d have made good use of a good wide-angle lens!

It’s officially SUMMER!!

Published on June 20, 2012 at 9:38 pm

As of about 7pm this evening, it’s officially gotten here.

The Summer Solstice

And it’s been the hottest day of the year so far, and may be the hottest it’ll get all summer. It hit 97°F here today, and with the humidity so high, it put the index up to around 105°F. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. It’s brutal out there, hot enough to be dangerous.

I spent most of the day at work, sucking up the air conditioning on company time, but husband was in and out of it all day. He was really wrung out by the end of the day and as neither one of us felt like cooking, I’m ashamed to admit that we went out for fast food and then went around the corner to Target. They have changed things around in our local store and added a grocery store? There was frozen food where the electronics were supposed to be! We wandered around unable to figure out what was where (I just hate it when they move shit around like this) but Himself was saved when he saw the DVDs on display – now at the back of the store! This is going to take some getting used to.

He came home with weird movies and I had to have the purple eyeliner.

And we won’t bring up those dark chocolate Milky Way bars that jumped into the cart.

Weather alert

Published on at 7:03 am

The weather services are predicting a vicious hot spell here in the Northeast, with temps way high above norm and high humidity, a dangerous combination. Be careful, drink water, stay indoors as much as possible. Don’t be stupid with this. I’ve suffered from my own stupidity dehydration twice and learned the hard way not to fool with this stuff. No need for others to be that dumb
