Inappropriate person, often, here at the keyboard.

I was wandering around on the internet, looking at something and accidentally clicked on an ad.

It took me to a site filled with square pictures that can/will be placed on t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, whatever.

Pages and pages of pictures.   Some were cute, many were funny.  I was chuckling to myself over quite a few of them, thinking of the reactions I would get if I wore them to different places and/or occasions.   And for many of the designs, I was thinking that I would NEVER wear that in public!  Or at all!!  Maybe the kids would wear some, but not me.

Then one caught my eye.

I am of the “VietNam” generation, high school Class of ’67.  My husband is a Viet Nam Vet and proud of it.  Army Ranger, he was.  And a medic; seen it all and more.  Maybe the fact that many of the boys that sat in my Geometry class never reached age 20 has colored my judgement, my weird sense of humor.  Movie buff that he is, my husband will watch any movie with the actor Henry Fonda in it, but nothing that includes his daughter.  Still.  36 years and still holding a grudge.

We are, as a rule, an anti-war generation.

So I don’t know whether to laugh or applaud.   Or click on the BUY button.

What brass?

Much of my life is out of order  (or “OD,” as it was abbreviated at the Telephone Company when I worked there 40 years ago)

(How the hell do I remember useless shit like that?)

(Why the hell do I remember useless shit like that, but forget to pick up my medications, get milk, get ALL the ingredients I’ll need for dinner while I’m at the grocery store?)

In this case, though, I’m using “out of order” to indicate that blog posts about our trip will not be in the order in which they happened.  The phone company term was for trouble reports, things that were broken.  Blog posts will be in the order in which I remember things, which probably will twist the time-line into a bit of a knot.

On the way home, we re-discovered that Pennsylvania is one wide damn state.  My husband is a native Pennsylvanian, born in Philadelphia and even he forgets sometimes what a wide-ass state it is.  We were camping in Clarion County, near the Allegheny River in the western part of the state, and just about 8 hours of driving time from home.   On the way back, we stopped in the town of Lewisburg, where we used to camp.  And oh, how I love this little town, right on the Susquehanna River, and the whole general area.

Map of Pennsylvania
RED is Clarion County, where we stayed
GRAY is Union County, Lewisburg and shopping

We had been on the road for several hours, and decided to stop for an early lunch – at the Country Cupboard, a place we had been to many times with our friends, enjoyed many meals and much laughter there.   It’s a beautiful place, with gardens, gift shops, places to wander.  After our lunch, we decided to take a stroll down the main street (Market Street) of Lewisburg.  Neither one of us really wanted to get back into the car for another 5 hours.  As we were leisurely walking along, out of the corner of my eye I saw a spinning wheel in a storefront window and did a U-turn so fast I almost pulled Pop off his feet.   So much for romantic hand-holding!   I guess I have a sharper turning radius than he does, and can reverse directions faster than an alien UFO.   I swear I didn’t know the store was there, and I know Pop will never believe that.  Mad About Ewes is lovely, and full of fiber and books and wheels and spindles and, as usual, resistance was futile!!

Grafton Fibers spindle, Mala

A lightweight Mala spindle made by Grafton Fibers, followed me home.  I couldn’t help it.  Honest!!

Cranberry

And this, too.  Cranberry top.   So soft.

But the real reason that I wanted to go back to Lewisburg was to visit The Celtic Exchange again.   Each time we went camping in the area, I made a point of getting in for a look at all their beautiful things.  Earrings for me, for daughter, for gifts.  This time I got several pair.

Wouldn’t you have bought them, too?

What campers do best

In the morning, when it’s peaceful and quiet, and the only sounds are birds greeting each other in the woods, saying some sort of “birdie” Good Morning to the couple over in the next tree, the best thing to do, the only thing to do………

Paul and his morning coffee

is to enjoy the lovely start of another day!

Good friends make it just that much better.
